During the course the student will be trained in dissections of harpacticoids and mounting body parts on microscope slides. The student will be trained in sketching harpacticoids by using camera lucida and to identify individuals to family and genus level. Students may bring their own material to be used in some of the practical lessons.

2 weeks advanced course: Further training in identification to family, genus and species level. Training in doing practical species descriptions for identifying quickly all major species in a certain habitat. Students are encouraged to bring their own material for making reference slides and drawings of the most abundant species in their area of study.

Fees:

Course fee is 2500 € and includes all training material, a selection of dissected harpacticoids from the course and the guide: Marine and brackish water harpacticoid copepods, Part 1 by R. Huys, J.M. Gee, C.G. Moore and R. Hamond. Synopses of the British Fauna (New Series) No. 51.
